Comcast Corporation Complaint - Illegal Billing Practice
LAS VEGAS, NEW MEXICO -- I canceled Comcast cable TV service because I was moving to a rural area where it offered no service. I returned their equipment to the local office and left my forwarding address for the partial-month, unbilled service I would owe (about $12). At my new address the post office was doing its job, forwarding mail sent to my old address, so if Comcast billed me at my old address, I still would have received it after a few days' delay.
Nothing came in from Comcast. About 6 weeks at my new address, a collection agency mailed me a delinquent notice to my new address for the $12 I owed Comcast.
Delinquent after 6 weeks? I wrote the collection agency and Comcast both. Neither replied. I've still got that single delinquency "hit" on my credit record, still lowering my credit score after several years. That's actual, financial harm.
It's pretty clear, since I'd paid all my Comcast bills on time, that the company policy makers, aka criminals, routinely sent final bills directly to their collection agency instead of their customers.
Way to go Congress, way to go, Bush administration, for taking these crooks' campaign contributions and giving them free reign to abuse the public.
