Walgreens Complaint - Promotion Practices at Walgreens
Any other employees in a certain district in Walgreens dealing with some possible "shady" promotion practices? First, women and minorities are not very represented in this "unnamed" district. Then, people are being promoted to store mgr who haven't even been with the company a year! There are so many GREAT asst mgrs and exa's that have been with the company for a few years and they end up training outsiders only to find out they're training a "store mgr". Who would we complain to? The VP? Their not going to listen. Corporate? Forget it. This is very discouraging because what are we working so hard for? We have the education, the experience, we know the company and its procedures but this certain district mgr isn't promoting from within.
Well sometimes but then its rarely a female or a minority. And when it is, they have to be careful b/c they don't know if their being set up. It looks like a classic case of the good ol boys network - white, male - you know, the typical. Are these the only people who can run a store? And there are other employees - SIMS, techs, etc. - who have expressed interest in being a mgt but are told that since they don't have a degree, they have to work in each dept to "learn" for a year or so. When they do that, some of them still get overlooked.
But someone off the street comes in and gets a store just like that! We don't get it. This company just had to pay out millions of dollars to minorities b/c of discrimination and the stock tumbled from the mid 40s a couple of yrs ago to the low 30s because of it. Do they want to keep getting lawsuits?
