Rain Soft Complaint - Tricked by RainSoft

Review by Rogerdodger2 on 2008-08-05
NORTHVILLE, MICHIGAN -- I was tricked by RainSoft into allowing a salesman to spend 2 1/2 hours trying to convince us to buy an extremely expensive home water and air filtering system (about $7000). The caller said I had won $500 in grocery vouchers, which the salesman would bring when doing a free water test.

Instead I got a high pressure sales pitch and no coupons.

Check your state laws. Most states give you 72 hours to rescind a door-to-door sales contract. You did not state how long ago this was. Read your contract and be sure there was not a clause included waiving you legal rights. Contracts today can be ruthless.

Where does it say that they BOUGHT the system? All I read that they got "pitched" and then shorted the grocery vouchers. Rodge, do you think that the vouchers were contingent on buying the "system?"

You're right, zz. It doesn't say they did. I just assumed (my bad) they got taken.

If it sounds too good to be true, it is. I don't let anyone come to my house unless a friend or co-worker has recommended them.

Nice reminder Roger of the companies sending reps to your home for a sales pitch. Once in you can't get rid of them short of tossing them to the street. I didn't realize this still went on. All they want is to get into the home and wear the prospective buyer down and sign that order form. If there is a product/service I want, I'll call and it will be only to give me an estimate and the request will be based on the recommendation of a friend or a home project I admired.
