Shamwow Informative - Phony TV Commercial - Shamwow Chamois

Review by old fart on 2008-08-09
SAGINAW, MICHIGAN -- Shamwow chamois have a commercial on TV that purports to be the most effect thing since goats were invented, but if you watch the commercial VERY carefully you will see that when the pitchman drops the Shamwow on top of the cola mess, there is a split second when he drops it toward a dry surface, but an instant later the spill magically appears... making it seem that the chamois picked up the entire spill... Very deceptive advertising no??

Glad you didn't find this out after you bought it. LOL, ShamWow is just that! A "Sham! WOW!" LOL, just kidding. I love those play on words. Thanks for the information!

IMO a shammy is a shammy. I'll get mine at Walmart for a couple dollars.

I didn't believe the commercial/advertisement for a minute. I was waiting to see if anyone felt the same or has tried it.

I haven't seen this particular commercial. But about five years ago there was a product called 'Magicloth' advertised on TV. I was once in a KMart store where someone was demonstrating this product. I fell for it. I'm glad I did. I've purchased four of them. Two are still in the original packaging. My housekeeper uses the other two over and over again. They're good sized and orange in color. They can be placed in the washer but the instructions say not to put them in the dryer. (Have no idea why.) After washing, she usually drapes them over one of the patio chairs and I remove them after they're dry. The ones that are being used for so long are now a little lighter color than the ones still packaged. These are terrific for spills. I've sometimes spilled coffee or my Diet Pepsi and just threw one of these on the light colored carpet, stepped on it a few times and the spots and liquid are all sopped up in a jiffy. Have no idea if these are the same.

Is Billy Mays the pitch man for these?

C2O, if he is, that may be the reason I've never seen it. the minute I hear that crazed voice, I hit the remote!

No, Billy Mays is not the pitch guy.

No doubt Ponie! He stands there screaming into the TV.
