Quail Springs Goodyear Tire and Service Complaint - Technician Crossthreaded And Stripped The Oil Filter Mount

Review by sooner4x4 on 2008-08-09
OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA -- Bought a used car from a neighbor with low miles. He had purchased it new and always had it serviced at Quail Spring Goodyear. A week after I bought it, I decided to change the oil. (I have been changing oil in my vehicles for over 30 years). Typically a filter wrench is needed to break the filter loose and then it comes off easily by hand. The filter had to be wrenched off the entire way. Examining the threads showed the oil filter mounting bolt was seriously messed up from cross threading of an oil filter. I had to wrench the new filter on also. Typically a new filter is put on without any wrench. Quail Springs Goodyear had done every oil change since new, with records to prove it.

I confronted the owner of the shop. He was very arrogant and agreed they had done all of the oil changes but the messed up bolt was my problem not his. Very unprofessional. Very incompetent technicians. I had been a long time customer of this shop (tires and other things), but no more.
