Office Depot Inc Complaint - Higher Priced Clearance Items
I was recently in a Office Depot looking at computer monitors. I noticed a shelf that had a number of monitors and CPUs on clearance. It was when I looked at the price of a 19" monitor when I realized it was priced $50 higher than the exact same monitor sold as new. I then look at the other clearance tags and saw that all the prices were higher than the new ones on the opposite shelf. For example an HP CPU was 'marked down' to $900 from the 'original' price of $1600. Yet on the other shelf was the exact same model marked at $800 regular price. I did check the SKUs and they were identical. When I asked a clerk he said the clearance items were floor models.
I politely asked if he could check to see if the tags were correct considering the prices were much higher than the new ones. He refused. I told him "Fine, if you can't help a customer I'll just go elsewhere."
