DirecTV Inc Complaint - Unfair Early Termination Fees
Due to a "bundling" problem I had with Qwest (a whole other story!)I had to terminate service with DirecTV. I had been a customer of theirs for over ten years.
Instead of the $52 refund I was expecting, I was billed $300! (minus the $52)
After several letters and many calls, "Meagan", from the President's office, told me I was billed the early termination fee because a couple of months earlier, they had sent me a new set-top box to replace one of theirs that had stopped working. Meagan told me that when I accepted that new set-top box, I signed a "verbal" agreement for two more years of service, subject to the early termination fee!
I told Meagan that I would not pay an early termination fee, and she said they would just send me to a collection agency.
How's that for company to customer loyalty? Over ten years using their service, and they hang me up on some legal, technical issue. This is a bad company that has no sense of morality or loyalty to their long time customers.
