Dish Network Complaint - 3 Missed Appointments!!
ASHLAND, MISSOURI -- I signed up with Dish through Centurytel about 8 months ago. It was a package deal with the phone and internet through Centurytel and the TV through Dish. Everything went fine until I moved. About a week before the move date, I called Centurytel and informed them of where the dish would need to be moved to. They said that it would not be a problem and transferred me to a dish customer service representative to set an appointment with. They only had appointments during the week and during a 5 hour span! I chose to take the afternoon off of work and have them come between noon and five. I called when I left work to confirm that someone would be there. The woman I spoke with confirmed the appointment. I also gave my cell phone number in case they needed to get in touch with me for any reason. At five after 5:00 I called and asked what was going on. The woman that I talked to this time said "the appointment has been missed." YES, it HAD BEEN MISSED! I was furious, I had taken vacation time for nothing. I asked what happened and she said that the driver drove around for 35 minutes and couldn't find my house. I asked why he did not call (My house is VERY easy to find). She stated that he did call and leave me a message. I had no message.
Although I was angry, I decided to give them another chance. I took off a morning from work and set up another appointment. Once again, I called to confirm the appointment. It was confirmed and I waited. Around 10:45am I began to worry that they were not coming. I called again and sure enough, they were not coming! This worker told me that the last appointment was actually missed because there was not a tech available and no one drove around or left me a message. She said that this time the tech got in a car accident and could not work. So, now not only have they missed two appointments, but they lied to me, and failed to even call me either time to tell me that they weren't coming! What kind of customer service is this!?!
They finally agreed to promo part of my bill and give me $20 off a month for ten months if I would not cancel. Although they told me if I cancelled they were going to charge me $13 per month.
I set up a third appointment and took the afternoon off of work. I called at noon to confirm and explained my situation. The woman called the tech directly and asked if he was coming. He said that he would be there before 5 and he would call me first. Around 4 I began to worry again. I called and, surprise faces everyone, they weren't coming. They said that they did not have a tech available. I said DON'T SCHEDULE APPOINTMENTS IF YOU CANNOT MAKE THEM! I have never been so frustrated and angry in my life. Mind you, I found this out after waiting on hold for 35 minutes.
The woman on the phone agreed with me that this was ridiculous and said that she did not blame me for wanting to cancel. They did not even try to keep my business. I don't know if they just knew I was way to angry, or if they really just don't care. So, now I have cancelled and they agreed not to charge me a dime from here on out. We'll see...they haven't exactly kept their word in the past.
DO NOT GO WITH DISH!!! THEY ARE IRRESPONSIBLE AND THEY LIE!!!
