Caribbean Tastes Complaint - Worst Service Ever!!!

Review by BizIng on 2008-08-14
MALDEN, MASSACHUSETTS -- Please do not use this company for any reason!

I hired them to cater and service my wedding on July 19th but it was the worst experience ever! They pretty much ordered and served whatever they wanted without taking my requests into consideration.

For instance, I asked for a red runner but ended up walking down the aisle without one! I ordered Martini glasses but instead they served in PLASTIC CUPS! Even at a dinner party I don't serve in plastic cups! I asked them for a bar, they gave me a table. The so called "bartenders" didn't even bring a blender to make the daiquiri drinks, they were crushing the mint leaves for the mojitos with their fingers! And served the ice with their hands! EWWWW!!!!

I was assured that I would have 15-20 staff members to serve people but only about 5 or 6 showed up. The food was nothing like what I had at the food tasting, the shrimp was served raw and cold. Some guests did not get to eat and were left standing. I ordered and paid for 80 chairs but only got 40. Pretty much, nothing I ordered and PAID for was at the wedding. I have no idea where the money went. Oh, and they lied about how much the total would be and threatened to not show up if we didn't pay the remaining balance in full which was very much INFLATED!

I planned a nice classy and elegant wedding but instead got a VERY VERY TACKY one! I was embarrassed in front of my friends!

Plus, the chef recommended a very good wedding coordinator, turns out, it was his cousin and she had absolutely no idea what she was doing and she was rude to my guests, my family was the one coordinating the wedding and serving food. They served the display cake as opposed to the real cake and never even told us about it. Had we not gone into the kitchen, we would have never found out. The real cake was left there untouched and no one informed us of anything. The 5 or 6 waiters wore black T-shirts with gray pants!!! And that's only a few things that went wrong, the list is way too long to post here.

Pretty much, it was a waste of money and time planning this wonderful once in a lifetime event! I have tried to contact them about getting some money back for all the orders I placed that I did not get to no avail.

Please, do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY from this company. They are crooks and thieves!

Take them to court. Hope that you took your own pictures of every thing and have guest that will go to court with you.

yeah, that sounds terrible. Court would be suitable recourse. Did you have a contract that outlines what would be served and provided?

Did you pay the last of the bill with a credit card? If you did file a charge back. That will get their attention.

Where did you get the recommendation for this caterer? I would definitely let them know of your experience.

Sounds like a case for Judge Judy!

LOL mad

Yep, you need to have any information that you have prior to the wedding i.e. brochures, contract, etc of what you were paying for and then pictures of what you received and then take them to court.

I agree with everyone else. If you had a contract and proof that they did not provide what was in that contract, this does sound like a good case for small claims court. Hopefully there wasn't anything in the fine print saying they could make substitutions at their discretion.
