Amana Complaint - Amana Controls Melted
LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY -- This happened a couple years ago, but I'm still angry about it. First, let me say, I will NEVER buy another AMANA product again. My wife and I spent over a thousand dollars on a convection oven by Amana, I don't recall the model number or care what it was. After a year, the control panel "skin" directly above the oven vent on the front of the oven, apparently melted and warped making it impossible to keep the oven lit. It would light and go out, light and go out. We would think dinner would be ready in an hour and discover an hour later that it was stone cold. I called the dealer, they said it was no longer under warranty, but call a repairman. I did. He said it would cost $400 + labor to replace the control. He or the vendor called Amana, no they would not help, it was out of warranty. Just barely. I told the guy to forget it. He charged me $75 for coming and looking at it.
I had it hauled away when I replaced it with a $400 oven that actually works and has knobs versus plastic, electronic buttons. The new oven is NOT an Amana and never will be again. I would expect a $1M oven to work for more than 13 months.
