Dish Network Complaint - Contract Deception
CAPE CORAL, FLORIDA -- We moved to Cape Coral Florida in March 2008 and soon thereafter selected Embarq as our phone and internet source and we also agreed to use Dish Network which Embarq was acting as agent for. We were very poorly impressed with their service. We experienced dropped calls, loss of internet service and loss of TV reception fairly often in the first couple of weeks and we thought that unacceptable, so we contacted Comcast and switched. When I contacted Embarq to return Dish equipment, I was quickly handed off to a service rep from Dish we had never had experience with we were told we had signed a two-year service agreement when we accepted Dish as our provider, and told further that there would be a cancellation fee imposed, which amounted to $150 and change. I was astonished! Never had any of that been explained to us! I have complained three times to Dish to no avail, and now am in collection with our well-overdue penalty payment. In my letters to them I reasonably asked "why would I sign up for a two year service agreement knowing nothing about your quality?"! To do so would be stupid, which is exactly the way I am feeling now.
I think this company deliberately conceals elements of their service program to entice users, and to my way of thinking this is fraud.
I would like to know how to run my complaint further up the flagpole. Someone needs to hold Disk Network's feet to the fire for fraud like this.
If you have any ideas, please let me know.
