Vonage Complaint - Billing Rip-off
Resolution Update on 09/11/2008:
The bbb contacted vonage about my complaint and vonage returned the credit card charge back to my credit card account.
I was with Vonage for about 4 years. I switched to another phone provider on 8/20/2008. Vonage released my phone number to the new provider on that date. To my surprise on 8/22/2008 my credit card was charged for another months service with Vonage. ( My new billing cycle starts on the 23rd of each month ). I called customer service on Saturday the 23rd and asked why I was charged for another month of service when they had released my number to the new provider on the 20th of the month and they no longer provided me with any service. I was told that they couldn't do anything because it was a Saturday and another department handled that and that dept. was closed on the weekend. I called that dept. on Monday the 25th and was told they would close my account, but would not credit the charge back to my credit card since the new billing cycle already started.
So beware-even though they are not providing any service to you what soever, if you switch from them to another provider be sure you call them and personally cancel your account. I filed a complaint with the BBB.
