SAS Peru Complaint - Bad Experience Booking A Trip

CUZCO, PERU -- SAS Peru is a dreadful company. I booked an 8-day Manu trip, from USA, a few months ago. Paid deposit via credit card. Few weeks before trip confirmed via email that trip would start on August 2, 2008, as scheduled. A couple of days before trip, I called from USA to confirm trip and I was told everything is confirmed, "Welcome to Peru". When I get to Cuzco, they pick me up at the airport and they tell me that the Manu trip is on target.

I stay in Hotel Marqueses, recommended by SAS Peru, and I get a free day with their complements. When I go to the SAS Peru office for a briefing on August 1st evening, I am told that my wife and I are the only participants, hence the trip is cancelled. Alternately, they will put me on a 6-day trip for about the same price. I asked them to pro-rate the payment for 6 days but they refused. I took back my deposit and left. I stayed in the hotel, but I did not get the "free" day.

Avoid SAS Peru's bait and switch business practice. Alternately, they will leave you in the lurch. There are many other companies offering Manu and other trips.
