AirTran Airways Compliment - Booking Error - Flight Change
I booked a flight with Airtran online and somehow (My error) hit the wrong radio button for the flight I wanted and ended up booking a flight earlier than I had expected.
I didn't realize this error until later the same day and tried to change the flight online but couldn't without paying a $75 fee (which is more than the flight itself..)
I called AirTran and spoke with a representative. She tried to re-book me for the later flight but said she was getting the fee requirement also.
Apparently there is a 4 hr window from the time booked that changes can be made without a fee. It had been about 5 hrs since my booking. I asked if there was anything she could do or direct me to a supervisor that could possibly assist me. After holding for about < 2 minutes - the representative she got this change approved and rectified my error without cost.
In dealings with other airlines - and finding issues along the way.. I would line to give my hat's off to Airtran for this service.
Special notes of service. (Calling at 10 am - peak time)
The initial call/hold time was extremely minimal.
The Airtran was extremely courteous and willing to assist even though the error truly occurred on my part.
Any/all hold times on the phone was < 2 mins. and even if they couldn't or wouldn't change my flight - I would be "bummed" but it was my error and I didn't read the fine print of accuracy/changes in the 4 hr window..
I have flown this airline before - and have yet to have any negative impacts in bookings, flight checkin, onboard friendliness - etc.. for a smaller/economical airline.. kudo's to Airtran.
