Best Buy Complaint - Finance department conveniently received my payment late on the month where I would be charged for the deffered finance charges.
ELLICOTT CITY, MARYLAND -- Dear Richard M Schulze,
As a frequent user of your company, I feel obligated to share with you my experience.
I purchased over $2,000 worth of appliances from Best Buy Inc. about a year ago. They had a promotional no financing offer if payment was paid within 12 months. On the month where all of the finance charges would be charged, your company claimed that they received the payment late. Therefore they had to charge me $619.09 in interest and late fees. I was upset and asked them to please check when the payment was postmarked. They did not want to look at the postmarked date and claim that the contract stipulate only the date when the check was posted. Note that looking at my payment and credit history I have never been late, and the way I sent the full payment before the due date was the same as the first 11 months. After multiple attempts to resolve this with your company, I decided to give in and paid the fees and late charges 3 months later in order to prevent a bad credit report.
To help keep me as a potential future customer, I would like the following:
A full refund of the finance charges and an investigation including when the payment was post-marked, and why it took so long for my check to be posted.
At the very least I would like a response from your company regarding this incident.
