Priceline.com Complaint - Excessive Cancellation Fee
SAGINAW, MICHIGAN -- Not being seasoned travelers, my husband and I wanted to attend an American Idol concert in a city across the state and used Priceline to help us find a decent hotel room. We are care givers for a family member suffering from an unstable medical condtion and therefore, haven't been on an overnight trip for several years. As it turns out, a little less than 24 hours after making the reservation, we had to cancel. When calling Priceline we were told they would charge us the full room rate - no exceptions - they told us that the hotel would charge them in full so they, in turn, charged us. We then called the hotel management who said this was a lie. We then contacted Priceline a few more times, even going so far to send their customer service an email - all to no avail. If we had done our own research and went directly through the hotel, we would have saved ourselves much stress, time, and money trying to resolve this issue - the hotel would have charged us no cancellation fees.
We would have saved around fifteen dollars up front with them, but in the end cost us dearly. Their customer service is terrible - all they care about is their bottom dollar.
