United States Postal Service Complaint - Would You Mind Not Throwing My Packages?
MADISONVILLE, KENTUCKY -- Yesterday I had a package delivered to my house. It was a movie that was on back order for my husband's birthday. I saw the mail lady pull up to my driveway and stop, walk three feet before the steps to my front porch and underhand throw my package so hard it bounced off of my storm door and on to the first step of my porch. I was home and saw the whole thing from my living room window.
I went to the door and picked up the box and said "Thanks for throwing my mail, I hope this wasn't fragile." And she shrugged and walked away to her mail truck.
I called my local post office right after she left and the post master said he would speak to her about the incident and call me back.
I get a phone call twenty minutes ago from the postmaster who told me that she did not throw the package and that she was sure nobody was home so she left it on the porch.
Really, I wasn't home. I told him that it always looks like nobody is here since I park in the garage and that even if I wasn't home, it's not an excuse to throw someone's mail around.
So basically it's my word against hers, and since I can't prove I was home I guess I'm a liar.
I'm pretty angry about this, and was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience to mine, or if there is someone else I can call. I don't want her to think she can get away with chucking people's mail around like it's garbage.
