Best Buy Complaint - Outsources Installations To Third Parties And Messes Up In The Process
WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA -- I ordered a microwave from Best Buy and scheduled a professional installation--not a good idea.
I never received the promised call regarding a timeframe for the installation, so I called Best Buy and was given an 11-3 p.m. timeframe.
Apparently Best Buy subcontracts everything, so I received a voice mail from the subcontractor Optima Services didn't know what apartment to go to (the apartment # was on my order ticket according to Best Buy).
But the installer didn't leave his phone # on the voicemail (yes, smart installer). Nor did he bother knocking at either of the two apartment doors (this is a teeny tiny brownstone--not too many apartment options). When I got through half an hour later--he had "left the neighborhood and was unable to come back for the day." The next installation date offered to me (after a lot of complaining was three days later.)
And I was transferred back and forth between Optima and Best Buy who couldn't decide who was at fault for not having the apartment information (Best Buy saw it in their records, Optima didn't).
I asked for a refund due to spending an entire wasted day waiting for the repairmen, but was told that was not possible and Best Buy's failing to pass along my address information. Avoid Best Buy and their installation services!
