Honda Informative - Liability Insurance Higher Even Though The Car Is Safer
I purchased a 08 Honda Civic hybrid. Think it is a step in the right direction but I have several concerns. I called Honda and was distressed with their response.
When I received my insurance bill for the Civic I noted that the liability cost was greater than the cost for the car it replaced, a 2000 Volvo. I note that the Civic is advertised and sold as a five star safe car. The cost was also higher than the premium for a 2000 Mercedes c230; both cars do not have the air bags that the Civic has. The premium is also higher for the Civic as compared to the Toyota Prius...
Honda’s response was that it was not their concern and they were not interested. The representative told me that I should have researched it before I bought the vehicle.
I also noted that the warranty on the battery is different in length of time and mileage on the battery that is used to operate the car. In my state it is about half of the warranty in some other states.
Some years ago I remember the pronouncement of the President of Honda who proclaimed that they would voluntary extend the warranty on seat belts for the life of the car. That was done to show promote safety, care for their customers and gain market. The representative had no response and refused to pass the question on. He indicated he was the final voice.
Frankly, I was taken back by the response that I received from Honda.
