Amana Complaint - Customer Service??? More Like Disservice
DOWNINGTOWM, PENNSYLVANIA -- My 3 1/2 year old Amana french door refrigerator (AFD2535DEB)compressor gave out while I was on vacation. All of the food in both freezer & refrigerator rotted creating an odor & "insects" you can't even imagine. The service company Amana sent (A&E Factory Service)agreed that indeed a new compressor was need so they ordered one to be sent to my home. Apparently they are not permitted to carry them in their truck. The following week the compressor arrived and A&E returned to install. It made so much noise I recalled A&E only to find out that they had installed not an Amana but a cheaper, noisier brand which had to be retrofitted.
Despite the fact I followed their instructions to remove the odor nothing worked (crumpled newspaper with charcoal, cotton ball soaked in peppermint extract, deionizer, baking soda and loaf of bread) the odor still remains. Calls to Amana to correct the compressor issue went unheeded. I was told their only responsibility was to make sure my food was cold. They didn't care I paid over $1600 for an AMANA refrigerator and they put in another brand compressor. Essentially I was told by their customer service supervisor "it's your problem". I will never buy another Amana appliance again.
Their customer service department could care less all the way up the ladder. They won't give out direct phone numbers, extensions or even last names. No wonder!!!
