Time Warner Cable Complaint - Time Warner Cable is the WORST
COLUMBUS, OHIO -- I cant believe how bad my experience with Time Warner has been. I first got service a couple of months ago in June when my roommate and I moved into our apartment. With EVERY bill one of us has had to be on the phone with their untrained customer service representative because there is ALWAYS at least one problem with our bill. But that is not the point of this post. I want to highlight one particularly bad event that happened to me today on 9/7/08:
Our bill for this month said we owed $131.72. When we first got service installed we were quoted at $97 a month for cable and internet service. I called to figure out why we owed so much. They said we had a past due balance of $42 from the previous month. I was outraged since I had paid the bill in full the previous month and there was supposed to be a $20 credit applied to our account from something else they screwed up a couple of months ago. So I spoke to a guy who didn't know what he was talking about or how to help me so I requested to speak to his supervisor. When the "supervisor" got on the phone she wasn't much help either. I told here that the bill was paid in full and there shouldn't be any past due balance.
And I also wanted to know why the bill was so high. We were being charged for Showtime which we never ordered. I told her to cut that off and she agreed. I then told her to just go ahead and take off our internet service. She said she could do that but it would cost $250 since we'd be breaking some sort of two year "contract" that we "agreed to." Words can not explain what I felt when that woman told me this. I NEVER AGREED TO OR SIGNED ANY SORT OF CONTRACT WITH THIS COMPANY!! I wasn't even aware that cable companies had contracts. She said since we were offered that "special" rate of $97 there was some sort of 2 year agreement. I was livid. There is no WAY I'm paying $250 to have my service cancelled!! I am a college student working and paying my own bills. I can not afford that!
The supervisor refused to do anything to better the situation. I cant believe Time Warner treats customers this way. I would switch but I cant afford to pay $250 just to have my service cancelled! Is it even legal to enter someone into a contract when they had no knowledge of it or if they didn't sign anything? This is not over!
