AirTran Airways Complaint - Hidden Baggage Fees
BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS -- I bought my roommate a plane ticket to fly from Boston Logan to Houston Hobby. It was $150. When he flew, there was a new charge on my account from AirTran for $158. My roommate says he paid $90 in cash at the baggage counter, but they told him the total was $158, which was the amount charged to my account. I called AirTran about the charge, who then connected me to the baggage supervisor in Boston, who then demanded (not asked, demanded) to speak to my roommate. They berated him for trying to get my money refunded, and since he did not have a receipt for the $90 cash payment for baggage fees (they did not provide it), there would be no refund.
Apparently his one bag totaled $158 in excess weight and size fees, and even though they took $90 in cash from him (all the money he had on him), they had no record of the payment, and there would be no refund for the hidden charges.
I used to be very happy with AirTran's service, but since they decided to steal $158 of my money (which caused my account to be overdrawn), neither me nor my roommate will ever fly AirTran again.
