Home Depot Complaint - Is Sadam dead or running the Home Depot store in Cheltenham, PA
CHELTENHAM, PENNSYLVANIA -- While visiting my elderly mother I noticed there were a few small jobs around the house that needed to be done. I proceeded to the local Home Depot store in Cheltenham, Pa. Boy was I shocked! I was met at the door by an armed guard who stared at every customer that entered the store. This was very intimidating to say the least. These are the kinds of stories I expect in Iraq not Pa. As I moved through the store to collect a few items, I was given bad advice by several of the rude employees. I did plumbing to help pay my way through college, so I know a thing or two about this subject. I was told that I could use products that were against code and would not work anyway.
Once I completed by shopping and was ready to rid myself of this experience, I proceed to the checkout line were I was met by a gum chewing cashier. This is is where things really got ugly. As I attempted to pay for the items, the cashier asked for ID for the use of my credit card. Shocked and amazed I told her I didn't have ID as I left my wallet at the house but my credit card was signed and their shouldn't be a problem. The cashier with hand on hip and gum popping, called for the manager. Needless to say, I was very embarrassed, but was told without proper ID I could not swipe my card through the credit card machine. I was forced to leave the items at the store and return to my mother's house and explain to her that I would come back during the weekend to finish the projects. As I left the store, I noticed another guard at the exit checking each purchase and marking the receipt to indicate that you had in fact paid for your items and your purchased had been checked by the guards. I was left asking the question Iraq or America.
As appalling as this is for any American, I would not expect this from this community. Upon checking Yahoo's Neighborhood Profile I noticed these facts.
Residents per square mile Population Density: 3,776
Median Age: 40 years
Median Income: $66,141
Median Home Value: $291,000
I must ask, does Home Depot condone this behavior by their managers and is this anyway to treat your customers? If you don't trust your customers then leave the neighborhood but don't treat every customer as a criminal.
