Yellowpages.com Informative - Beware Of Yellowpages.com Advertisement Scam

Review by atd kdkenb on 2008-09-09
VIRGINIA BEACH, VIRGINIA -- I made a huge mistake signing a one year contract with them, you cannot get out of this contract even though they did not put the ad in the right locale so I was receiving calls from area's 30-40 miles away.area's we just don't serve. In the year I received 8 jobs, it was in the red as far a making a profit. They did not fulfill there end of the deal. However if you have an hour to read the whole 11 page contract it does state they are not liable for anything (the list of things go on and on) advertising is in fact to make a profit.

Bottom line is the slick fast talking yellowpages rep promised this would be a gravy train and quickly rushed me to sign the contract. I did. She said I would be on the major search engines like Google, Yahoo, Ask, etc. It never happened and the only way I could be found is if the person looking for a plumber would physically typed in www.yellowpages.com. I found out the hard way.

Do not make the same mistake. DO NOT SIGN ANY ONE YEAR CONTRACT WITH YELLOWPAGES.COM. There worse than a vacuum salesman.

Yellow pages are no longer a viable advertising venue. 1) Few people use them, they are more likely to go online to look for a business. 2) As always, your competitors appear on the same page as your ad...never a good idea. Yes, their contracts are iron clad...typical of any lousy product.

I would advertise on the Internet. That seems to be the way people are going nowadays. Maybe have someone create a webpage for you? A kid with some computer savvy could do it! :)
