KFC/Taco Bell - Ahoskie, North Carolina Informative - Racial Discrimination
AHOSKIE, NORTH CAROLINA -- My WHITE family has patronized this establishment many times from its opening in Ahoskie, NC. Today, my family was eating our supper. I had ordered tacos for myself, 2 kids buffets for my 2 kids and my husband was sitting there as well. By the way, he is a recent gastric bypass patient. (He can only eat 1/4 cup at any given meal.) My son had gotten a biscuit and decided that he did not want to eat it. (My family is one that DOES NOT WASTE FOOD!) My husband said that he would eat it. Previously we have seen many patrons do this-BLACK and WHITE.(Especially on Sundays)
The BLACK Assistant manager arrived at my table with a very unprofessional attitude and stated VERY LOUD WITHOUT addressing us otherwise that YOU NEED TO PAY FOR 4 BUFFETS. I looked at her and asked why and she said you all are eating off the buffet.(By the way, WE WERE NOT!) I then said to her, you had rather see this little bit thrown away than eaten. She said yes I would. (THINK ABOUT ALL THE HUNGRY PEOPLE IN THE WORLD.)
My husband tried to show her his card signed by his surgeon regarding the small amount of food that he could TOLERATE.(1/4 cup) SHE REFUSED TO LOOK AT IT OR EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE IT. In her presence the food that my son was not going to eat was thrown away in the nearby trash can as directed by this unprofessional assistant manager.
As she left our table area, there were several black employees (BLACK PEOPLE WERE THE ONLY PEOPLE WORKING IN THE RESTAURANT AT THIS TIME.) seated in the dining area. When she approached them, she looked back at my WHITE family, tilted her head back, rolled her eyes and smiled sarcastically concerning the situation. Her unprofessional attitude was not appreciated by my family as we WERE REGULAR Patrons that are professionals in this community. This experience will be shared in our community and surrounding area as well as the franchise. WE WILL NOT BE PATRONIZING THIS RESTAURANT ANYMORE.
