Lowe's Informative - Warping - Crackling Pergo Floor In New Home
WICHITA, KANSAS -- We moved into our brand new home in June 2008 which had approximately 1,000 sq ft of Pergo American Cottage throughout the kitchen, laundry, living room and hallways. We special ordered it from Lowe's (SOS) and after some "delays in manufacturing" received almost two pallets and had it installed by an experienced floor company. (Lowe's installers weren't available even though they knew of the delays). We were initially impresed with this product, especially the grain texture as we had a smooth Pergo product in our previous home.
During the installation we watched the floor crew leave expansion spaces along the walls. They stated they did call Pergo to verify that humidity would not be a factor since it was a new home. It was installed on new 3/4" OSB tongue & groove.
On Lowe's behalf, they did contact Pergo who sent out an "independent" inspector to check the product. The results from Pergo imply that the installation is the problem, even though the floor is now buckling and crackling 2-3 months after being installed.
At this time we are not satisfied with the answers. Please understand our frustration. The installer is blaming Pergo and Pergo is blaming the installer. As a result nothing is being done. We would just like to have our floors fixed.
