DirecTV Inc Complaint - DirecTV is an embarrassment of American Service
SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA -- Where do I start... well it was all cake in the beginning. I signed up for the NFL Ticket for 69.99 and they were going to include a portable DVD player as well for signing up. Some kind of incentive package. After I signed on the dotted line, that's where it all went wrong. The satellite was set up on a cinder block by boy genius who came out to install my service. Needless to say, I had to call back a few times to have the satellite re-positioned. I signed up for the insurance package because it cost a ridiculous amount for them to come out and service the satellite, even for a simple thing like re-position the dish. I lost an entire weekend of football because they don't service on the most important day of the week "Sunday".
I got my first bill for the 2nd year of the two year contract and noticed a bump to $150 per month for the NFL ticket for year 2. I began to ask questions on how much it would cost to cancel and they told me in the range of $200 to terminate my contract a year early. This was unbelievable that they would be so shady in their business ethics to trap you into buying such a service and then rip you off in the second year of your contract. I bought my first HDTV and was excited to start watching games in HD until they told me the ridiculous costs to lease a HD receiver and exchange the old dish with a HD satellite dish. It was going to cost upwards to $400 to just be able to watch games in HD.
Mind you, they give these options to NEW customers just for signing up with DirecTV. They really don't care about you once you've signed the business over to them. I couldn't wait to have the contract expire so I could release myself from this disaster. Once I was able to terminate service they told me I would have to pay a $6 cancellation fee for the insurance coverage for the service. Oh yeah, one more thing.... I NEVER received my DVD player! I couldn't be more dissatisfied with a product in my life!
