AT&T Wireless Informative - AT&T Wireless New Contract
In response to deregulation laws in California AT&T has issued a new contract to its customers. The customer has 30 days to do nothing or cancel service. AT&T is calling it a guidebook. But it's not available in print, only online. Why? Because it's 2,500 pages long. How many customers will actually read it? Probably a very few. An analysis has found there are some conditions which violate state law. For example there is a passage stating "You also agree to pay for all charges for services provided under this agreement even if such calls were not authorized by you." That leaves the customer open to pay for unauthorized calls or charges even those made by a third-party. It's also illegal under California law. The analysis also says the contract is written with so much legalese that the customer is very limited when it comes to disputing charges or other grievances.
