SuperShuttle Complaint - Supper Shuttle Left My Daughter Stranded At Night In A NY City Corner! - Airport Transfer

Airport Transfer - Complaint
Review by MeninadoRio on 2008-09-23
NEW YORK, NEW YORK -- I have a child who is a freshman at Columbia University in New York City. I bought her a plane ticket to come home for a weekend visit and booked a Supper Shuttle van to pick her up near her dorm weeks in advance. FIFTEEN MINUTES before she was supposed to be standing at the corner waiting for the shuttle, a dispatcher called and told her they would NOT come to pick her up. Just like that. No explanation. She was left to fend for herself and try to hail a cab in the streets with her suitcase. Since I had pre-paid for the shuttle, she had to first go to an ATM machine to get enough cash for a cab (she only had about $50 in her wallet). It was a nightmarish experience. She very nearly missed her flight and was very stressed out. When I called SuperShuttle they simply stated they would refund my money but never offered an explanation for why they simply decided not to collect my child. It was the most frustrating argument I have ever had. And of course they did not compensate us for the additional sums we were forced to spend getting a regular taxi at the last minute.

My advice is, if you want to make sure you'll make your flight, don't EVER use SupperShuttle. It's simply not a reliable service. I am amazed they can stay in business.

Maybe they just got a flat tire, and it was unavoidable. Don't you think that "Supper Shuttle Left My Daughter Stranded At Night In A NY City Corner! - Airport Transfer" is a little melodramatic? One would hope that a young adult who is smart enough to get into Columbia, is also capable of taking a cab to the airport. I understand annoyance, but the drama is a little over the top.

Your "child" is attending Columbia? Most people that go to college are adults, by the legal definition of the word. Sounds like you are a bit over-protective.

And stranded on a corner in NYC?? Hardly. It's impossible to look in any direction and not see a taxi.

I will agree that them not showing up is bad business. But only hearing your side of the story, you admitted they called you and they also refunded your money. Sounds like they made it as good as it could be.

edit.....I forgot about the part where you wanted to be compesated for the "extra sums". Why would they give you more money for different transportation? You don't expect to pay for a service? You said they refunded your money. You wanted them to also pay for a taxi? Come on, now......be realistic.
