Resort Equity Marketing Informative - Scammed!!
Let me tell ya that when REM called my wife and I about our timeshare they gave us one heck of sales pitch and boy were we suckered. An agent of REM called us and told us that they wanted to rent out our time share for us. The deal seemed really good. They even told us that as soon as we paid them the $1195.00 one time fee we would get a check overnighted for the entire amount of the rental assuring us that REM cannot take any money from the rental fee for any reason do to it being against the law.
We were told that we would get the check regardless if the timeshare rented today or next month. They told us that we could split the $1195.00 into two payments. They asked for a credit card or debit card number to make the payment. We okay'd a debit payment for $500.00. Within about two days my wife found "My 3 Cents" and when I read the complaints on REM I just about had a cardiac.
We googled REM and found their phone number to be a home phone. My wife and I immediately contacted our bank to stop the transaction do to the payment transaction not having been completed yet (I Love My bank) because our bank was checking REM out as well. We were unable to stop the transaction however our bank told us that when REM completes the transaction they would take legal action against REM for fraud. Yeah Baby!! And they did. The bank refunded our $500.00 and filed fraud charges against REM.
Finally something being done about the REM scam artist.
