DHL Complaint - I will never again order anything that uses DHL for shipping
OROVILLE, CALIFORNIA -- I have had two orders shipped by DHL and there service is the worst I have ever experienced. They also are untruthful on there website. The website states that ground shipping takes 1-6 business days, definitely not the truth.
My first experience was through Amazon.com for some pet products. It took them 14 business days to deliver. When the driver came to my house he rang the bell and walked away immediately. I was able to catch him before he got into his "obviously rented u-haul van". His statement to me " Oh...I thought you weren't home. When I asked why he didn't wait to see if I came to the door he said "Well I am very busy". Not only was his attitude unprofessional, but his hygiene and clothing looked like he had just come in from working in a muddy yard. I walked back to my door and he returns with a box and walks away. I was quite perplexed as the package was smaller than I expected. At this point I look at the address label and it is belongs to someone else. I called him back and he says "Oh, I remembered the box wrong." No apology at all. When I asked him to please bring me the correct order he was obviously not happy and muttering under his breath.
Fast forward to present day. I ordered items for my pets from Petzlife. I was not aware that they use DHL, so when I received the email all I could think was "Oh no". The estimated delivery date is 10/2, which by the way is 9 business days. The order was dropped at the DHL facility in Minneapolis on Friday 9/19 and arrived in Salt Lake the following evening. I was impressed this time but then it sat there for 3 days (today) before going to Fresno. I know the last time this happened the package sat in Fresno for over a week before being delivered. I am curious how long it will take this time?
I did contact Petzlife to let them know my dissatisfaction with previous experience with DHL. I also informed them that had I know the shipment was being handled by DHL I would have ordered from another company. I also informed them that the package sat in Salt Lake for 3 days. They actually stated that there has been a lot of slow shipping times and especially to rural areas. Although I don't live in a city, my town is not referred to as rural. They did refund my shipping fees and suggest that I use US Priority mail for future orders.
I now know that if the carrier's name is not listed to either call or find someone else to order from. I would rather pay more than have to wait for DHL to hold me hostage with my orders.
