AT&T Phone Compliment - Excellent Automated Repair Service
OHIO -- It's not everyday someone writes a compliment for phone service. So, I thought it was my duty to do so today.
When I came home yesterday about 5pm, I noticed my AT&T Landline phone was dead. No dial tone, Kaput...nothing!
Luckily I have my emergency Virgin cellphone for this type of unforeseen happenings,so I was not completely without communication if needed. I didn't want to call last night for help because I thought maybe it was just a fluke and it will be working again (maybe they were working on the lines or something)...I checked my phone in my bedroom and that one was dead as well. BUT I was still able to connect through to the Internet.
This morning I got up, checked my phone again and it was still dead. I went online and started to fill out the info to report the problem...then changed my mind about doing it over the Internet and decided I'd rather talk with someone. Before, they checked my line while I was on the phone with them.
So...prepared to use up all of my $80.00 worth of minutes on my cellphone while waiting on hold, I called AT&T. I got the automated service, which instructed me which buttons to push (unless calling from a rotary phone...LOL) if I had no dial-tone. I push that button. Then it asked, "Are you calling from the phone number in which you are experiencing the problem? Press one for yes or two for no"...well, if I don't have a dial-tone, I don't think I'd be calling FROM that phone to report that I can't get any dial-tone to call you! Anyway, the automated call, in total was maybe three minutes. At the end of the call, they said they would be checking the problem sometime between the time I called until this evening. Expecting it would be more towards evening...I ended the call.
To my surprise, within LESS than an hour that I reported the problem, my phone was back in service.
I should have had more confidence in the automated repair service than I did ... and now I prefer it over talking to customer service.
Good Job AT&T!
