Tramontina Cookware Informative - Made in the USA
LACEY, WASHINGTON -- In August we purchased a set of Tramontina cookware, with the SAND exterior..the out side of the pans were great, nothing stuck, and they were quite easy to wash. About two weeks ago, I noticed that the INTERIOR surface of the smallest frypan was peeling away, exposing the metal below....ewwwww!!!
We had paid $99.96 for these at Wal-Mart, and it was a beautiful set, except for that one pan. I loaded eveny thing into a plastic tote since I had thrown the box away, including the bamboo spoons and cutting board that came with the set, and hauled it off to Wal-Mart yesterday.
Although the signs on the display shelves still say $99.96, the customer service cashier said that they were now on sale for $80.00........why was she telling me this? She had my RECEIPT with the amount we paid. Not to worry, we did get a full refund of the $99.96 plus tax. She was telling me so if I wanted another set, I'd actually save money!
We looked for about 30 minutes, going from one display of pans to another, I settled for another set of the Tramontina pans but these have the comfort grip silicone handles, not all metal like the last set, they actually seemed to be made better...both sets were made in the USA, but evidently there was a flaw in the one fry pan. Both sets have a LIFETIME WARRANTY...not a limited lifetime warranty as so many things seem to have.
Wal-Mart never questioned the return, I had the receipt, I'm willing to try the same brand again, we are not hard on our cookware, its just the two of us, absolutely no metal gets used on them, I have a drawer full of plastic, nylon and silicone utensils. So far, I like the new set, time will tell.
Thank you Wal-Mart for making my day yesterday...I needed that!
BTW.....the second set had an 8" and a 10" saute pan...we invested in an extra matching piece, a 12" saute pan and we bought a few other items and were within less than a dollar of the refund on the original set of cookware! So this time we got more for less and I think its the better set.
