Spirit Airlines Complaint - Cancelled Direct Flight
DETROIT, MICHIGAN -- We just returned from a great two weeks at the Royal Sands in Cancun.
The problem we had with Spirit cancelling our direct flight screamed loud and clear in our return flight. We left the Sands at 12:50 PM for our 4:00PM flight. The flight departed on schedule but could not land in Fort Lauderdale because of a storm. We circled for an hour and because we were low on fuel we were diverted to West Palm. We fueled and waiting for an hour in the plane until it was clear to land at Fort Lauderdale.
When we arrived at Fort Lauderdale we were instructed to get our continued flight information to Detroit. We were told to go to Gate H4. Not much of a surprise to us but there was NO SPIRIT representative to confirm out continued flight to Detroit. The crew finally arrived but also was not informed as to what gate the plane was to depart from. The passengers that arrive before us were told that the plane already departed and were told to reschedule for a flight in the morning. It is now 10:30PM our plane finally makes the gate and we depart at about 11:00PM. We landed in Detroit at 1:30 AM. That is one long day considering that we left the Sands at 12:50 PM.
By the way we found that the seats have been moved closer together to get a few more rows. If the person in front of you moved their seat to the back position you had a hard time getting your tray down flat. Spirit also now charges for ALL beverages including water. At this writing the ice and glass was free.
The more appropriate name for Spirit should be Nickel and Dime Air.
