Denny's Restaurant - Carlsbad, NM Complaint - Denny's Deserves To Go Out Of Business
CARLSBAD, MINNESOTA -- My husband and I were on vacation in New Mexico, and after seeing the night bat flight (which is fabulous!)at Carlsbad Caverns, we went to the Denny's at 810 W. Pierce in Carlsbad. It was Saturday, September 27, 2008 around 8:15 p.m. When we were parking, we noticed 5 people, apparently both cooks and servers, standing at the back door smoking and laughing. We commented that we hoped someone was inside working.
We got seated promptly and there were only 6 or 7 tables occupied in the entire restaurant and about that many servers. After waiting an extraordinary long time for our server to take our order, we began watching the other tables and noticing people getting frustrated about no service. One family of 4 came in and waited about 15 minutes to get a menu. The father of another family finally got up and walked behind the counter trying to get someone's attention about their long wait to get food. When our food finally arrived, I had fallen asleep due to the long wait. My order was wrong, but I told the server not to correct it because we didn't have all night to wait.
Looking around, we noticed that we didn't see any workers in the restaurant. We went to pay for our check and had to wait for someone to show up to the register.
Leaving the restaurant, we counted 6 employees standing outside again smoking and laughing while there were customers waiting for food, waiting for menus, and waiting for any attention at all. Among the employees, there was no adult supervision at all.
Before writing this post, I took the time to read all the other Denny's reviews on My3Cents and see our experience is similar to many others across the U.S.
Denny's should be put out of their misery. They obviously aren't concerned about staying in business or trying to run a restaurant properly. I don't think we'll be going to another Denny's and repeat this experience.
