Best Buy Complaint - Remote Starter / Alarm Install
BROOKLYN CENTER, MINNESOTA -- Just recently I paid over 480.00 to have a remote starter/ alarm system installed in my truck. Believe when I say my 1997 F150 was in immaculate condition. We went through a check list as to the condition of my truck and it was noted interior/ exterior good. Dash lights not working / passenger door lock sticky. When I received the truck back, the paint on the dash around the light switch was all scratched up and other scratches on the dash. Trouble was the installer tried denying that he did it then, when I point blank asked him how he removed it , he removed all doubt. He said he had to pry it out from the side. All he had to do was reach up threw the back side of the dash and depress a plastic lever and then the switch practically falls out. I brought my truck back in because that morning the remote locks didn't work. The first words out of the installer was they were working last night when you picked it up. He was instructed by the mgr. to find the problem, it was loose wiring that he installed. Needless to say during this warranty repair, the installer leaned the dash parts up next to the side of the truck and scratched the clear coat.
Fortunately I had before and after pictures and there were physical notes when I checked my vehicle. When I turned my claim into Best Buys insurance carrier, Best Buys Manager and installer lied and said I had someone from WalMart installed a remote starter and then they took it out and the damage was pre-existing. Wal-Mart does install remote starters. Take pictures and make sure all areas of your vehicle are described, especially any areas that they have to work.
I'm not saying that I'm having any problems with the product and I'm not saying Best Buy hasn't said they won't pay for the damage. I wish it never happened. It left a soar taste in my mouth as to what is wrong with people now days that they lack such character as to stand up and be accountable. I was a loyal customer to Best Buy for over 35 years. Now I'm not so certain anymore.
