Car Repair Estimate - Complaint
Review by kmonaghan on 2008-10-13
OAKLAND, NEW JERSEY -- I brought my car to Ramapo Exxon in Oakland New Jersey today, October 13 2008, for an estimate because my car had failed inspection due to a exhaust leak. Upon picking my car up and immediately upon hitting the gas I noticed my exhaust was extremely loud, where as prior a very low "puttputt" could be heard. I called the gas station immediately and proceeded to question what they had done to my car to get the response of "nothing we didn't do anything to your car". I brought my car to another gas station in town to make an appointment for an estimate for the same thing immediately and upon my way home stopped back at the Ramapo Exxon to show them how loud it was.
At this point I am obviously a disgruntled customer so yea I am a little perturbed. So the mechanic comes out still insists they did nothing even after listening to it. Proceeds to tell me "If this wasn't here(meaning Ramapo Exxon) I'd have beat you up for the way you talked to me on the phone". The phone call he mentioned was me asking about what they did to my car and nothing was deserving of physical abuse. I stated to him "Now I realize why all the people I know tell me not to come to this gas station for service, they say your a horrible mechanic and you overcharge for everything", from there I was called a piece of s*** by the mechanic and a slew of other derogatory things.
From there I left, I was going to call and file a complaint with the police because of the physical abuse threat but I chose not to as of yet. Yes of course I was disgruntled but I had the right to be, and the fact that I called to complain about it doesn't deserve any form of battery.
