Budget Rent-A-Car Complaint - Customer Service is a Joke
MISSOULA, MONTANTA -- I recently had a car rented for a business trip through Budget. When I showed up to pick up the car there was trouble with the direct billing number. I finally got someone back at work to give them a number that actually worked. Great, that only took the better part of 45 minutes. So the lady at the desk finally cranks out the paper work and says "Initial here and sign here." What she didn't say was that she was having me initial an insurance waiver.
From some of the other reviews I have read this doesn't sound like an isolated problem. Is it just me, or shouldn't they mention what it is they are asking you to initial instead of just telling you to sign off on it? I know I am responsible for anything I put my name on, but she made it sound like I HAD to initial it to get the car. Normally I wouldn't care, but I hit a deer on the trip and did about $800 of damage. Not bad, but they are trying to hit me with and additional $300 in other fees as well. I am trying to figure out how I am going to take care of this. I have a sneaky feeling that I will end up getting screwed here. Anyhow, I would stay away from this company.
If you DO have to use them, cover your ass and read EVERYTHING. Even if they try to blow something off or skip past it. It may take a few minutes to figure out what the contract actually says, but it is worth it. Remember: the person behind the counter doesn't work for you and doesn't have your best interest in mind.
