DirecTV Inc Complaint - Charged Me Payper Views I Did Not Order A Year Later
BURBANK, CALIFORNIA -- I received a bill from DirecTV around Aug 2008 regarding 2 pay per view charges they said I purchased. The pay per view dates where JULY and OCTOBER of 2007. Yes, they charged me a year later. I called them to inquire about this, since I do not recall ordering any of these pay per views.
Since I discontinued my service of DirecTV last JUNE 2008, they said when they received my BOX, they found out that I had purchased this 2 pay per view via REMOTE and that these are valid so they billed me. When I asked why this was not billed to me at the month it was ordered, they told me that since my box was not connected through the PHONE LINE they were not able to bill it right away. Now this is the part where I got really confused and upset.
On DECEMBER 2007, I watched and ordered the MAYWEATHER vs. HATTON fight. Which I tried to purchase via REMOTE, but I was not able to and a message in my TV told me that I need to order by calling or online, which I did. It did not let me order by REMOTE because it clearly states there that I cannot order pay per view by REMOTE if my box is not connected through the phone line. Now, that purchased was billed and paid for at the same month. They are clearly contradicting their own statement, which is clearly a systems error on their part.
I wrote them a letter regarding this and was waiting for a clarification. Instead, they sent me to collection and now ALLIED INTERSTATE is calling me and I believe they already reported it to my credit report.
Note this is an $89 bill, which will ruin my credit. And besides, since I discontinued my service with DirecTV earlier than the said 2 year contract, I PAID $170.00 early termination fee without complaining.
