Cavalry Portfolio Services Complaint - Fraudulent Collection Practice

Review by jtopp on 2008-10-19
TEMPE, ARIZONA -- I was a Sprint customer in 2000. I paid in full the bill in 2001 when I bought my home. In 2005 I began receiving collection notices from Cavalry Portfolio Services LLC. It is 2008 and I still receive bills from them offering me settlements and various payment options. I too receive the calls from this fictitious "Heather". This is the kicker though... I also am being billed for the same Sprint account by "AFNI INC"! I am a debt collector and have been for 14 years. I know the collection laws pretty well. It is illegal to have more than one collection company collect on the same debt at the same time. I receive notices from both companies in the same month ever since June of 2008! AFNI INC offers a better settlement too! But I will not pay the debt again, for 1 I already paid it 7 years ago and 2 it's out of statutes in the state of Washington.

I have disputed thru all 3 credit bureaus, which did no good. I requested from Cavalry to send me documentation supporting the validity of the debt and haven't received anything from them, except another billing notice.

I THOUGHT IT WOULD HAVE DROPPED OFF BY NOW DUE TO STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS, BUT IT HASN'T BECAUSE THEY CHANGE THE ACCOUNT # AND BALANCE OWED.
