Ashby's Sterling Ice Cream Informative - Great Ice Cream - Hard Ice Cream

Review by johnz on 2008-10-19
SHELBY TOWNSHIP, MICHIGAN -- Having had their Ice Cream in several locations, I think its the best bang for the buck. Their Ice Cream is made with 14% butterfat and plenty of, for example pecans in butter pecan. A lot of stores that sell their ice cream are named other than Ashbys. They have a website.

According to the information provided on a comments card they have been around since 1984, made in Michigan and in 27 states.

johnz, thanks for the heads up. Haven't heard of this ice cream company before today. I'll have to check it out. Also will have to check to see if Alenosi's is still around. Even though Roseville is further from me than Shelby Twp., on occasion I'd drive out there for some of their great ice cream. Haven't done so in quite a while.

I had not realized it was made in Michigan. Do you know what city? Thanks for the review - good info.

john, found I can get Ashby's on Hoover Rd. in Warren, which is closer than Shelby Twp. for me. Also, was incorrect in the spelling of 'Alinosi's'. It's still available at Warren Farmers Market at 12-1/2 Mile Rd. and Van Dyke.

This has made me hungry for ice cream. Guess I'll have to be content with Edy's Caramel something-or-other, which is all I have in the freezer right now.

Warren Farmers Market? Does that mean it's only available on Sundays between 9am and 2pm? That's when the Warren Farmers Market is at city hall.

Is the ice cream sold in Ohio? Sounds good.

cherpep, yes, that's it. I think there's also a supermarket on Kercheval in Grosse Pointe that sells it but of course, no fountain service. A few years back whenever a buddy of mine and I spent a Saturday afternoon slurping suds, we often stopped at Alinosi's to calm the fire. One of their Sundaes did the trick every time. Don't think the waitresses appreciated the two of us stumbling in, but they always served us. :)
