DirecTV Inc Complaint - Unethical withholding of our money
PASADENA, CALIFORNIA -- DirecTV has outright lied to us over and over when we tried to get a credit of our money back of over 400 dollars. They took out the fee for the HD receiver when we fell behind on some bills when we had been out of town. Okay, but when we sorted the problem out, they expressly promised to mail us a refund check with 7-10 days of the excess amount. No check after 20 days. We called them. They said it would go out in 7 days. 10 more days pass. We call again and they attempt to claim it was the first time we has asked them for the credit back! They claim they have to send it for approval and will escalate it for review only. We call again in a few weeks and they say it has gone out to us and we should get it in 5-7 days. When over a week passes, we call AGAIN and the representative lies to us again and says they didn't claim that and it has to be sent for approval and review. It has been 2 months and what they are really doing is unlawfully holding onto the money until it dwindles to nothing. On top of that, their HD channels keep having crappy reception.
We have to restart the receiver at least twice a day but they still break up the image or freeze or constantly say "receiving signal". Their customer service representative were terrible and unhelpful. They wouldn't even give us contact persons to call when we said we wanted to complain!
We think we will just cancel service because, frankly, we are sick of them and would prefer ANY other company to them.
