Chins Palace Complaint - False Charges And Bad Customer Service

Review by autumnrfusco on 2008-11-03
OCEANSIDE, CALIFORNIA -- On Saturday, October 11th 2008 I went to Chin's Palace for karaoke night. I was with a large party and we placed many orders through the night. Fully realizing that we would be ordering drinks throughout the night I opened a tab.

At the conclusion of the night I requested the bill. The bill seemed high so I asked for the itemized bill so that I could check to see what we were being charged for. After looking through the bill I found multiple charges of drinks that we had not ordered. When I approached the waitress about the orders that we had not placed, she commented that we had been going back and forth to the bar ordering drinks from the bartender, and that most of the charges were from those orders. I asked the bartender why I was being charged for drinks that I never ordered and she replied that she made all those drinks throughout the night.

I told her that she might have made those drinks but not for our party and that I should not be paying for other peoples drinks. She walked off and ignored my response and charged my cousin and my card for half of the bill each. The overall cost was $164. I was charged for products that I never received and the customer service to my complaint was handled in a very unprofessional manner. The employees referred to above are as follows: [snip]

A few questions here:

Just how large was your party?

Were you ordering for your entire party, or, since a tab was opened, was it possible for members of your party to approach the bar and order w/o your knowledge?

That's the problem with an open tab in a bar when you're with a group of people. Yeah, the bar may pad it a little but those drinks add up quick. Especially if you're drinking until you're full to the top. Although I myself have never done such a thing, I've seen it happen a time or two.

If your going to run a tab then get your drinks through the waitress only. Going back and forth to the bar is where you created all the confusion. It's not the bartenders job to know who is in what party. The drinks probably got mixed up with another partys tab. you should have just paid cash for the drinks you got from the bar and the problem would have been averted.
