Capital One Complaint - Useless for Traveling
This is an update to a review that I wrote back in September, 2008 which stated: "Do Not Rely On This Card !". Please see that review for an explanation of how useless this card is for traveling.
After shutting of my card in NYC and sending me a new one, I decided to give Capital One the benefit of the doubt and try it again. This time we traveled to Spain. Before leaving I called the Capital One Fraud Dept. and explained in excruciating detail the problem we had in NYC and that I needed their absolute assurance that my card would work in Europe. I took down the womans name who assured me that Capital One would be well aware of my travels to Spain and that the use of my card would be guaranteed. Well ... guess what ?
After 3 days of traveling in Spain, Capital One shut the card off again, changed the number, and shutdown my online access. Since I was fully expecting this to happen, my wife and I simply laughed when the waitress in the Spanish restaurant told us that the card would not work. I brought two other cards with me, a Chase Visa and a Bank of America MC, so I simply used one of them.
I can honestly say now that the Capital One credit card is completely useless. Good Bye Capital One.
