Sears Informative - Awww Man, Sears Finally Got Me :(
I read about Sears problems all the time on here and was always happy that I don't have those problems - I should have knocked wood b/c it finally caught up to me.
In January I bought a new microwave, washer, dryer, and a service agreement on the dryer. I used my Sears credit card at Great Indoors to take advantage of an additional 15% off and no interest for 12 months. So I have a balance of $636 and $2200 . . . In March I make a payment of $2500 and SPECIFICALLY CALL to make sure it is applied to the promotional balance since I always have to do the same thing with Best Buy. They guy assures me that its all taken care of.
Fast forward to November. I never open my bill, I just make payments online. The wife checks the bill and sees that the promotional balance is not paid off. I call sears and am told that I never called CS in March. I disagreed with them and was told again that I never spoke to anyone in March. I then say "ok, well, can you just apply the $2500.00 payment I made in March to the promotional balances since the CSR before didn't do it?". Her response - "No, our system doesn't go back that far". Hmmm...next questions "If it doesn't go back that far, how can you be so confident that I didn't call in March?" Her response: "let me get a supervisor"
So in the end, they cannot do anything for me. They have no record of me calling nor can have their system go back "That Far" into the past to reapply the payment. So I pay off the balance AGAIN. Oh well, just forced me to pay off the non-promotional balance before I planned. . . all the sooner I can cancel the account I've had for 15 years.
