J.C. Penney Company, Inc. Complaint - Item On Credit File - Store Care
BALTIMORE, MARYLAND -- I have a negative item on my credit report from JCPENNEY through no fault of mine. I was charged a late fee once when I had already mailed the payment so I called and explained that to the customer service lady who advised me as a one time courtesy the fee will be waived. She informed me of what my balance on the account was minus the late fee. I paid everything owed minus the late fee as she advised. I moved out of the country haven paid all my bills and cards and not expecting bills from anyone. A couple months later I come back to the US to visit and to my greatest dismay the late fee was never waived and interest had accumulated on the late fee to the extend that the account was closed and charged off then reported to the credit bureau without my knowledge. I called and spoke to several people who advice me to file a dispute and I readily did so and again went out of the country.
I asked a friend to watch out for any mail from JC PENNEY and none never came through. I checked my credit again and the item was still on there with a 120 day past due status. I have been home now for 2 semesters not being able to get a student loan because of what JC PENNEY did to me.
