Downloadable Software Complaint - Scam - Beware - Download Discounted Software

Review by geebo2b on 2008-11-15
CALIFORNIA -- Nov 8 2008, accessed Downloadable Software site from e-mail. Ordered Absynth 4 for Mac. Used debit card for a total $92.79.

They promised to send a link for the download within 24 hours. No link came: that was Nov 8.

Today is Nov 15, no link, all hot buttons to contact product support are disabled and there is NO CONTACT info whatsoever.

My $92.79 has been released to them out of my account.

I filed an internet fraud report and notified my B of A account. B of A is going to credit my account with the loss and pursue the Fraud Investigation.

Don't Order from any Downloadable Software site.

Here is their link. If you check the 'contact' us page, you will notice that the access code part is Disabled and there is NO CONTACT info anywhere on their pages.

FRAUD FRAUD FRAUD BEWARE!!

You should NEVER order anything from spam e-mail sites...you said you replied to an e-mail ad-many of those are run by bots or fraudsters. Fortunately you contacted your bank on time...I would suggest having your debit card and checking account numbers changed to protect yourself from identity theft. Most e-mail spammers are only interested in harvesting bank account and credit card information rather than sell merchandise. Stick to reputable retailers, and go to the site yourself. Don't ever click on an e-mail link.

Can't really comment as we have no link to follow. I'm sure the OP is 100% right about Downloadable Software, but being able to check them out would help.

Thanks for the warning...sounds like you've taken all the right steps to get this reported for investigation and get your credit back. Hopefully, they won't be using your card info for other charges.

GenuineNerd, you are absolutely correct.

I recall being a victim of a scam like this in April of this year, it was for a downloadable song costing $2 that I really needed for a school project. It sent me an email with a download link, and then when I clicked it, it simply said download not available. The contact information led to an out of service number. I wish I remembered the name of the website so I could post the review here.

Update: I continue to receive the 'Spam' from the software sight DS team.
BUT..when I click on the link to access the 'order page', it comes up blank!!! Guess they must have packed up the computers and split!!..
It would seem then that the :spam' comes from a different site and computer than the actuall site where they process the order and steal your money.
I had assumed it was all-in-one operation..but since the 'Bait' spam is still coming to my 'spam' box' but the order link shows a 'blank' page..the operation must be spread out over a number of different computers and locations.

Anyone care to comment?? I'd be interested to know how they do it? Just curious.
