Martin Way Diner Compliment - Worth Consideration - Wonderful Meal

Review by Starlord on 2008-11-16
OLYMPIA, WASHINGTON -- We had a craft sale, and decided to eat out, instead of having to cook and wash dishes, etc. We chose the Martin Way Diner in Olympia, and were very impressed. The decor is warm and open, somewhat reminiscent of a '50's diner. The menu is full of delicious sounding treats, and a variety of beer, wine and cocktails are available. I had the boneless pork chops with mashed potatoes and a green salad and coffee, and Crystal had a burger and fries. The pork chops were tender and juicy and delicious, whicle the mashed potatoes were covered with a terrific pan gravy. The coffee was some of the best I have had, even with a coffee stand on every corner in Washington. Crystal said the burger was delicious, cooked all the way through and juicy. She was slightly disappointed with the fries.

They were all small pieces, and it looked like htey were the bottom of the sack. She said other than that, the fries were properly cooked and tasty. We will be going back to the diner, which we found out had been there for 70 years, and until 18 months ago, operated under the name 'The Rib Eye.' If you ever get to Olympia, look for the Martin Way Diner on Martin Way East.

You will not regret it. This will be listed under Product Quality, but could also go under Price, Quality of Service, etc.

Sounds yummy! Stinks about the fries though, those are one of my favorite guilty pleasures when we go to a diner! Were the prices reasonable?

The prices were quite reasonable, cheaper than Denny's on some things even! We will be going back! Its only about 4 miles from us so close enough to become a regular eating place. Denny's is actually pricing itself out of our budget, and so is Shari's.

Turns out that a couple of the fast food places close by have some pretty decent meals too, but even they are getting expensive, might as well turn them into sit down restaurants with regular wait staff for the prices they charge.

However, the Martin Way Diner WILL see our smiling faces again!

Too bad it's only 2500 miles away...sounds good!

That's great Crystal! The coffee was my selling point!! I wish it was close to me, I'd love to check it out.

I love that program on the Food Network that showcases diners. There seems to be some still left where the food is excellent and the price still affordable for most. I like the way most of the waitresses are a bit sassy but the customers are crazy about them. Nice review Starlord.

Hey, that's only about 2 1/2 hours away for me. I have a friend that lives nearby there--in Olympia anyway--that I visit frequently. I will have to take her there next time. Thanks for the tip. We Washingtonians have to stick together!

I saw a diner in Portland on that show, Diners, Drive-In's and and Dives and I had actually eaten there once. That was cool seeing it on TV. And the breakfast was exceptional.

dianec1, if you make it this way, you'll have to look us up, we're maybe 4 miles from the restaurant, and we might grab something there next weekend, we have a craft sale right down the street this Friday and Saturday at the VFW on Martin Way E. 9-6 and 9-4 if you are able to make it, we'll be the ones there with the two small service dogs.
