Washington Mutual Complaint - Cancellation of Credit Card
I have had a HSN Platinum VISA through Washington Mutual for over three years. There were no late payments at any time during this period. Last week I spoke to customer service to reset my login since I forgot my password. I also received a new card to renew effective date 11/08 so I had no idea there were any problems. On Saturday, November 15th, when I logged into my account on-line I noticed the available credit was zero. When I called they told me the account was closed the day before for non-activity. I asked why I was not informed of this prior to them closing the account. They basically told me they did not have to (the manager I spoke to was extremely rude). It would be different if I had bad credit or had missed payments in the past. But my credit score has been over 800 for over two years consistently. The only logical reason I can conclude is this company prefers customers that cannot pay so they can charge fees and high interest rates to keep the customers down. They have nothing to loose since the federal government will just pay it off anyway with our tax money.
No wonder they went out of business. JPMorgan Chase has acquired a big problem and the bad customer service from WaMu is going to be a problem for them if they do not resolve it soon.
