SPCA Upstate NY Inc. Complaint - Bad Customer Service Can Make Another Animal Not Have A Great New Home

Review by standsup tall on 2008-11-18
QUEENSBURY , NEW YORK -- When I called I realize through talking I was donating money to another organization but both of them served the same purpose. I was letting her know I was concerned about the hours but wouldn't be able to make the hours she was very rude. Stating to me she wouldn't let me adopt a pet. I then asked for her name. She hung up on me. Then when I called back another lady answered I asked her. I then still couldn't get her name or the new person answering the phone or any one else to talk to. they hung up again and stated that if I called back they where going to call the police on me.

I felt disrespected and undermined. I wasn't treated with respect and wouldn't NEVER EVER BUY A ANIMAL FROM THEM. I RATHER GO TO ANOTHER ORGANIZATION. THIS HAPPENED 11/18/08 11:45-12 PM

You couldn't make it to the shelter while they were open and then... I think there is a lot missing here.

It feels like we came into a complaint in progress - there's something missing.

I kept expecting this post to say they hired a mouse, since they couldn't get rid of it.

The ASPCA is not in the business of selling animals. Watch Animal Cops on the Animal Planet channel, and get an education on the work of this fine organization. BTW, the ASPCA was the first group to fight for child labor laws when no one else would speak up for kids being injured and killed working in sweatshops Get your facts straight before you start denigrating a fine organization like the ASPCA. The money you give when you adopt an animal is not to purchase the animal, but is to help offset the cost of operation. You adopt the animal, you do not buy it. They cannot just give you the animals and continue to do what they do.

I didn't think a shelter sold animals, I thought they adopted them?

Star I've seen that show you're talking about. I couldn't watch it after I saw them bring in a dog that someone threw gas on and lit him on fire. That will stay with me for a very long time. The fact that the person who did it is still breathing angers me to no end.

Why did they keep hanging up on you? The full story, please.

I think the moral of the story here is you didn't qualify to adopt a shelter pet and you were pi**ed.
